The Town of Rye Kicks Off Pride Month with Two Flag Raising Ceremonies

The Town of Rye invites the community to celebrate pride month at either of their two commemoration events on Saturday, June 5th.

PORT CHESTER, NEW YORK – This June, for Pride Month, the flags over the Town of Rye’s landmark properties will be flown in unity with the Pride Flag. To mark Pride Month, the Town will host two commemorations on Saturday June 5, 2021: first, at 9:30 a.m., there will be respectful flag-raising in Crawford Park, followed by a ceremony in Rye Town Park at 11:30 am, where local leaders and community members will come together to show continued support for

the LGBTQ+ community. Hosted by Supervisor Gary Zuckerman, along with Town of Rye Council Members Lindsay Jackson and Pamela Jaffee, guests and ceremony speakers will include community leaders like U.S. Representative Jamal Bowman, alongside County Legislator Nancy Barr and others.

The Council has invited students from Blind Brook, Port Chester and Rye Neck to attend, and to speak on behalf of the LGBTQIA+ youth in the area.

“The Town of Rye is proud to be an inclusive place to live, to work, and to enjoy our gorgeous outdoor spaces,” says Supervisor Zuckerman. “We are thrilled to open our two parks, Crawford and Rye Town Park, to these two Pride Month celebrations, and we welcome all our friends and neighbors to join us.”
