MLK Day of Service 2022

*** Due to inclement weather, this event has been postponed to next Sunday, January 23rd. ***

The Town of Rye will commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 16 by sponsoring a day of service at the historic African American Cemetery, located within Greenwood-Union Cemetery. The Town is seeking volunteers to help provide groundskeeping care, including pulling invasive vines, bolstering the low rock wall around the property, and collecting debris.

In case of snow, this event will be postponed to Sunday, January 23, 2022, and you will be notified by email.

It is highly recommended that participants wear outdoor work gloves and bring any of the following items with them to help with clean-up work:

  • Rakes
  • Shovels
  • Outdoor Broom
  • Outdoor Working Gloves
  • Face Masks/Coverings are required

* It is important that you dress appropriately. Be sure to wear layers if necessary, thick socks, and closed toe shoes. Face masks/coverings are required.

Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
