2019 Summer Internship Program

Rye Town Supervisor Gary Zuckerman and the Rye Town Council announced that the Town will be sponsoring its 8th annual Summer Internship Program for high school students! The internship consists of a one week job readiness workshop and a five week internship with local businesses, community organizations or municipalities. High school students who currently live in the Town of Rye or attended Blind Brook, Port Chester or Rye Neck High School are eligible to apply.

Completed applications can be emailed to OR mailed/brought to the Supervisor’s Office. *The deadline for submitting completed applications is June 1st.

Job Readiness Workshop (Monday, July 8 to Thursday, July 11)

  • 9:30am to 12:30pm Monday to Thursday; 4pm - 6pm Thursday
  • Sessions on job search skills, resumes writing, interview skills and on-the-job performance
  • Interview with prospective employers
  • Students and employers will be “matched” based on their mutual interest

Internship (Monday, July 22 to Friday, August 23)

  • Work for a maximum 15 hours/week (days and hours to be arranged by the intern and employer)
  • Receive a stipend of $11.10/hour to be paid equally by the employer and the Town of Rye
  • Previous worksites included: Byrnes Advisor Group, Carver Center, Family Services of Westchester, the Alliance for Sustainable Development, Port Chester Housing Authority, Serendipity Labs, State Farm Insurance, Town of Rye , Village of Port Chester, Village of Mamaroneck.
