JOHN B. COLANGELO is a resident of Port Chester with an office for the practice of law located at 211 S. Ridge Street, Rye Brook, New York. He is a 1967 graduate of Port Chester High School, a 1971 graduate of Dartmouth College, holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport (1975) and is a 1979 graduate of Albany Law School. He served as Town Councilman, Town of Rye, from 1981-1985, and was elected Town Justice for the Town of Rye for the first time in 1985 and has served continually in that position for the past 31 years. He is a member of the Port Chester/Rye, Westchester County and New York State Bar Associations as well as the New York State Magistrates Association. Among his numerous professional positions, he served as a former Code Enforcement Attorney for the Village of Port Chester, former Counsel to the Village of Port Chester Industrial Development Agency. Prior to entering into the practice of law, Judge Colangelo was a Social Studies teacher at Port Chester High School from 1971-1976. He provides legal services and advice to many local community groups and serves on many committees and organizational boards. He is married to Denise (Linen), Executive Director of the Port Chester Council for the Arts, Inc.; the couple have two daughters, Christina (married to Brian Beadle), an English teacher and theatre director at Blind Brook High School, and Julie (married to Zachary Dore), a 6th grade teacher at Port Chester Middle School and musical theatre director at Sleepy Hollow High School; they also have two grandchildren, Samantha Beadle and Anneliese Dore.
