Rye Town Park is accepting applications for seasonal park rangers to patrol the park and beach for the remainder of this summer. Applications are available online at https://townofrye.seamlessdocs.com/f/RTPApplication.
Uniformed park rangers work under the supervision of the Park Ranger Captain and the Park Director to maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere in the park. They patrol the park and beach, assist park users, provide information on and enforce the park’s rules, manage traffic, help in searches for lost children and make regular security checks of buildings and grounds.
First-time park rangers are paid $13.00 hourly. Salaries are higher for candidates with peace officer certification and former law enforcement officers.
Work experience and skill requirements include: prior work as a NYS licensed security guard, public safety responder (E. G police officer, firefighter, EMS provider) preferred; ability to respond to emergency situations, administer first aid, Physical fitness, commensurate with duties; valid NYS driver’s license; valid NYS Security Guard’s license.
Education requirements include: Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of GED requirements; CPR/AED certification from Red Cross or American Heart Association, or successful completion of NYS EMT requirements; Law enforcement or security training preferred.
City of Rye, Villages of Port Chester, Rye Brook and Mamaroneck residency a plus, Spanish speaking also a plus.
