FAQ’s
1. Where do I get a parking/beach permit?
At the administration building, the building with two towers facing the beach, between Seaside Johnnie’s restaurant and Dearborn Ave.
2. Who can get a season parking and beach permit?
If you live in the communities of Rye City, Rye Brook, Port Chester or Rye Neck you can get a resident permit. Other people can get non-resident permits, at somewhat higher prices.
3. What is the advantage of getting a permit?
All permit holders get discounts on parking and free beach access. If you’re a resident and plan to come to Rye Town Park frequently, you’ll save money by getting a season permit. Even if you only come 8 weekdays for the whole season!
Here’s the math for family permits, with two parents: With a permit you’ll pay a season fee of $130, plus $4 to park per visit. Without a permit, you’ll pay $8 to park and $14 beach access per visit for two adults.
Math for 8 weekday visits by Residents– Family of Four (2 children under 18)
|
Permit |
No Permit |
|---|---|
|
$130 – permit |
$64 – Parking (8 x $8) |
|
$32 – parking (8 x $4) |
$ 112 beach access (8 x $14) |
|
$162 – total (You save 14) |
$176 – total |
Thus anything over 8 family visits will save you money ($ 4 versus $22) -- $18 for each additional visit.
Note: without a permit, children 13 and up will have to pay $7 per person, making a season permit even more of a savings. You’ll save even more money if you come to the park on fireworks evenings – permit holders do not have to pay the $5 parking fee. And you won’t have to pay the $2 per adult to get on the beach. Single residents will save if they come more than 10 times.
Non-residents Permits will save money for people who plan to come to the beach on a regular basis. For all permit holders, the more you come, the more you’ll save!
