Park Programs and Activities
Introduction – A variety of scheduled activities take place at Rye Town Park throughout the year, particularly in the spring through fall months. Groups wishing to hold events at the park need to obtain permission from Rye Town.
The following are a list of some of the RTP events that are likely to be held annually. For further information phone the park at 967-0965 or the Town of Rye offices at 939-3075 ext. 100.
Twilight Concert Series – Co-sponsored with Friends of Rye Town Park, these concerts of popular music are held at the south pavilion near the Dearborn Avenue end of the park. They are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Check back here for a complete schedule.
Art Exhibits and Cultural Fairs – Rye Town Park has provided inspiration for many painters, sculptors and photographers over the years. In 2011 an event is being planned for May 14 and 15. Check back for further details about this and other programs.
Historical Commemoration Events – In past years we have worked with local historical societies to stage events commemorating the 100th anniversary or Rye Town Park, and the 350th anniversary of the Town of Rye. Events tied into the 150th anniversary of the Civil War are being planned. Check back for details.
Events sponsored by Seaside Johnnie’s – Musical entertainment; family appreciation day.
Horticulture Programs (trees, shrubs, plants) – Free –offered by Bartlett Tree Specialists;
Nature Programs – pond, beach – The beach and duckpond are home to a wide range of wildlife, and the Park’s staff intends to offer informal nature walks as the weather permits.
