Program Will Authorize More Than $30,000 for Port Chester seniors

(Port Chester, NY) ~ Westchester County Board Majority Leader Martin Rogowsky (D,WP-Harrison) is pleased to announce that the Village of Port Chester has received a $30,000 community development block grant from the federal government for the purchase of a delivery van for meals for Port Chester seniors.  The grant, administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, is a flexible program that provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs.  The grant will be used to replace the previous delivery van that provided meals for Port Chester’s homebound seniors.

“I’m glad that I was able to help Port Chester in obtaining this grant as this project will help hundred of homebound seniors who are unable to access healthy meals,” said Rogowsky.   “The purchase also exhibits fiscal responsibility by securing this funding through non-County taxpayer funds.” 

The annual CDBG funding plan is now in its thirty-fourth year and is a joint partnership involving the federal government, the County and the local villages, towns and city governments.
